This article describes the advantages and disadvantages of two forms of detectors of ionizing solar radiation for recording in the soft x-ray and extreme-UV regions: secondary-electron multipliers (SEMs) and detectors based on silicon and diamond with filter-films of In, Ge, Ti, Al, Be, Sn, C, and B. Based on the resulting efficiency values of the devices as a whole, it is concluded that there is an advantage to using SEMs with a beryllium photocathode, since, because of the better degree of solar blindness (low sensitivity to near-UV and visible radiations), they make it possible to eliminate the influence of micron-sized openings and microcracks in the filter-films that are used.
