A technique has been developed for compensating the influence of temperature on the image quality of objectives that operate in the IR region for the case of a homogeneous temperature distribution in the system. When passive optical athermalization is used, it is possible to simultaneously minimize the image aberrations determined by the technical requirements on the optical system. A technique is proposed for creating an athermalized achromatic three-component optical system by choosing the necessary combination of materials and calculating the design parameters of the objective. Examples are considered of the use of possible combinations of athermalized achromatic triplets for the IR region in the wavelength range 8–14 μm, and the optical system of an objective based on the technique developed here is described.
