This paper presents a study and comparison of the optical properties of rough glass surfaces obtained by various methods. It is shown that, when a rough surface is created by means of grinding powders with a grain size of from 10 to 40 μm, the width of the scattering pattern increases to 35°, but the amount of transmitted radiation is reduced in this case because of internal reflections. It is pointed out that the creation of a rough surface by means of etching provides a narrower scattering pattern but reduces the losses of transmitted radiation.
