Abstract:

A comparison of the results of a study of visual acuity obtained using an eye chart and a chart projector at different distances with a demonstration of various optotypes was performed. It is determined that, depending on the visometry version, the results of visual acuity testing can vary significantly. For example, when using an image projector at a visual acuity range below 0.1 and a distance closer than 5.0 m, overestimation was observed. It has been established that to assess the dynamics of visual functions it is better to use the same method for studying visual acuity from a constant distance. A calculation method is proposed that allows one to obtain an exact value of visual acuity of less than 0.1 using a chart projector, provided that the distance from the screen is taken into account.
