This paper discusses the problem of correcting image tilt in optical systems. It is analytically shown that, in the presence of a telecentric ray path, the image tilt and scale can be corrected by using tilted flat surfaces that form wedges and a telescopic cylindrical system mounted in a convergent ray path. The invariants of the image tilt are obtained, formulas are derived for the aberrations of coma and astigmatism, and methods for correcting them are considered. An example of an optical system with correction of image tilt is given to illustrate the theoretical studies.
