In general, it is hard to obtain an analytical solution of the problem of light propagation in multicomponent biological tissues, even for simple cases. A solution of this problem is therefore found by numerical methods. One such method, widely used in various areas of science, is the Monte Carlo method. This paper discusses a modification of the Monte Carlo method for modelling light-propagation processes in biological tissues for three-dimensional geometry of a medium with closed internal inhomogeneities.
