Abstract:

The physical bases of the laser effect in liquid crystals are considered. The conditions for the appearance of lasing in various types of liquid crystals are discussed, and low-threshold lasers and optical amplifiers are also described. The features, advantages, and disadvantages of liquid-crystal microlasers are analyzed.
