This paper describes a technique for monitoring off-axis aspheric mirrors. The question of measuring the distance from the center of the reflective surfaces of off-axis aspheric mirrors to the optical axes of the corresponding axisymmetric aspheric surfaces of revolution is considered in detail. The monitoring device consists of a Twyman-Green interferometer and a linear-displacement meter. The working branch of the interferometer contains a synthesized holographic optical element consisting of three coaxial axial synthesized holograms, produced on the common working surface of the substrate; the linear-displacement meter contains a viewing microscope. This technique can be used when monitoring off-axis aspheric mirrors with either concave and convex reflective surfaces for various optical systems, as well as aspheric segments of optical-telescope mirrors, including mirrors whose positioning is being monitored.
