Abstract:

There has recently been increased interest in media with near-zero permittivity. It is well known that the noble metals possess this property close to a definite frequency in the optical region. It is shown in this paper that a composition can be selected for a composite for which the permittivity is close to zero at the given frequency, with the losses being of the same order as for the noble metal at the frequency at which the real part of its permittivity goes to zero.
