Abstract:

This paper presents the results of a study of the characteristics of a fiber-optic sparking sensor based on the spectral conversion of the spark radiation into the long-wavelength region of the spectrum. It is shown that the sensitivity of the sensor can be increased by more than a factor of 200 when a fiber with a polymer coating containing rhodamine 6G and a cylindrical lens is used in the sensor. The proposed sensor possesses a narrow directional pattern, and this makes it possible to determine the spatial position of the signal source (an electric discharge).
