Abstract:

This paper describes the design of spiral electrodes for forming a volume discharge in electroionization lasers. It is experimentally determined that using such electrodes improves the delivery by 20%. It is established that, for a definite choice of the attachment site of the electrodes to the supply source (the anode) and the ground (the cathode), the gain at the edge of the cavity volume can exceed the gain at the center. The distribution nonuniformity in the energy-contribution range from 1.5to2.3kJ was from 10% to 14% in these experiments, whereas the nonuniformity was at least 20% for electrodes with a profiled surface.
