Abstract:

Advances in the computer technology of automated shaping of large optical items so that diffraction quality of the image is obtained, developed at Optika Scientific-Manufacturing Organization, make it possible to expand the technological possibilities of shaping aspheric surfaces—in particular, when creating off-axis aspheric mirrors of complex configuration. This paper demonstrates the possibilities of the method of automated shaping of the surface, using as an example the automated shaping of various types of off-axis mirrors about 1000 mm in diameter at the grinding and polishing stage. The technical parameters of fabricated off-axis mirrors are presented, and problems of the automated shaping of off-axis mirrors are indicated, along with technological ways of solving them.
