Abstract:

This paper discusses how acidic solutions affect the variation of the refractive index and thickness of a nanosize film of oxide composition (20 mol% B2O3, 25 mol% Fe2O3, 55 mol% TiO2), deposited on a glass substrate by the sol–gel method. When the film is allowed to stand in the solutions, it simultaneously swells, with an increase of its thickness, and dissolves. The swelling initiates an increase of the refractive index, and the dissolution reduces it.

Keywords:

a nanosized film obtained by the sol-gel method, a refractive index, a thickness of the nanosized film, a hydrochloric acid solution, etching mode, swelling of nanoscale film
