Abstract:

This paper shows that the probability of detecting an object with a stereobinocular thermal viewer (ThV) is higher than with a pseudobinocular viewer. It can be assumed that the most efficient way to use stereobinocular devices is to search for and observe various objects. Results are given for the modelling of a stereoscopic thermal-vision image, and studies of prototypes of the main functional units of a stereoscopic ThV in a portable implementation with a mass of up to 3.5 kg are also described.
