This paper describes a separable sample cell made from fluorite, intended for the recording of the IR spectra of strongly absorbing and volatile liquids and solutions. Several methods are used to experimentally investigate the thickness of two such cells. Phenomena that can cause nonidentical estimates of the thickness to be obtained by different methods are discussed.
