Abstract:

This paper discusses a model of light transmission in structures consisting of dielectric tubes having diameters comparable with wavelengths of the visible range. A scalar wave model of the light field in inhomogeneous media is used to calculate the intensity distribution. The resulting calculations are compared with the patterns observed in a microscope, obtained when dentin microsections are illuminated with white light.
