This paper proposes a method for calculating the detection and recognition range of low-level television systems in the active-pulse and passive operating regimes. The method uses the contrast-frequency characteristic of the system - the dependence of the minimum contrast of a resolvable target on its angular frequency - and is conceptually similar to the corresponding methods accepted in thermal vision.
