Abstract:

This paper discusses several different methods of synthesizing SrS:Pr phosphor. It is shown that the brightest photoluminescence can be obtained by using strontium sulfide as the main starting substance and doping it with PrF3 in the presence of NaCl flux by roasting the mix in a dry nitrogen atmosphere with an addition of sulfur vapor. It is established that, to obtain luminescence of the SrS:Pr samples, it is necessary to anneal them in vacuum. The praseodymium concentration in the mix, the temperature, and the vacuum-annealing time were optimized, and this made it possible to maximize the photoluminescence brightness and achieve the highest perfection of the phosphor crystals. The synthesized SrS:Pr phosphor possesses white luminescence.
