Abstract:

An all-fiber dual-parameter sensor based on cascaded tilted grating and Bragg grating for temperature and refractive index measurement was proposed. Both a fiber Bragg grating and a tilted Bragg grating are sensitive to temperature, but a fiber Bragg grating is not sensitive to refractive index. Therefore, through decoupling the cross sensitivity of temperature and refractive index, the sensor sensitivity matrix can be obtained. In the temperature range of fiber Bragg grating 25–300 °C, temperature sensitivities were 11.60 pm/°C for the fiber Bragg grating and 11.25 pm/°C for the tilted Bragg grating. NaCl solutions with concentration from 5 to 20% were used for the refractive index test, and the refractive index sensitivity was 0.833 nm/RIU for the tilted Bragg grating. The proposed sensor can be used for dual-parameters measurement, showing good application prospect and research reference value.
