Subject of study. A fiber-optic accelerometer for geological exploration of offshore mineral deposits. The purpose. Research and development of a three-axis fiber-optic accelerometer based on a Michelson interferometer for measuring the acceleration vector of low-frequency seismic vibrations during geological exploration of offshore mineral deposits. Method. Calculation and modeling of the main characteristics and design of the fiber-optic accelerometer were performed using COMSOL Multiphysics software. Experimental study and comparative analysis of the main characteristics of the accelerometer prototype were carried out using an electrodynamic vibration shaker and reference sensors. Main results. A method for developing a three-axis fiber-optic accelerometer based on a Michelson interferometer for geological exploration of offshore mineral deposits is proposed. The results of mathematical and computer modeling allow us to calculate the main characteristics of the sensor. An experimental study of the accelerometer prototype allowed us to determine its amplitude-frequency response in the frequency range from 2 to 250 Hz and a sensitivity of approximately 5 rad/(m/s2). A comparative analysis of signals recorded using fiber-optic and piezoceramic accelerometers and an electrodynamic geophone was conducted under the influence of low-frequency vibration pulses. Practical significance. The fiber-optic accelerometer is applicable to systems for geological exploration of mineral deposits, particularly seabed seismic streamers for operations on the continental shelf.
