Abstract:

Subject of study. The influence of dynamic artificial lighting with variable correlated color temperature on visual perception, cognitive performance, and psychophysiological state of humans under controlled photometric conditions. Aim of study. To establish quantitative relationships between artificial lighting parameters correlated color temperature and indicators of human psychophysiological state, for a theoretical basis for the future development of human-centric adaptive lighting regimes based on optical feedback. Method. Under dynamic chromatic lighting conditions at a fixed illuminance and variable correlated color temperature, a multi-level system was implemented to assess human psychophysiological response. An in-house computer vision algorithm was employed to continuously register objective biomarkers: Eye Aspect Ratio, blink rate, and pupil diameter. Main results. Lighting at 4000 K was found to provide the optimal balance between cognitive efficiency and subjective comfort (p < 0.05), whereas illumination at 5000 K significantly increased fatigue and reduced visual well-being. The sequence of correlated color temperature transitions in dynamic scenarios was shown to substantially affect attention stability and visual discomfort, confirming the necessity of accounting for the temporal structure of light exposure when designing biodynamic lighting systems. Practical significance. The findings lay a methodological foundation for the design of intelligent biodynamic lighting systems that integrate optical monitoring data to enable real-time adaptive control of the luminous environment in office and educational settings.
