Abstract:

Subject of study. Compensation for residual aberrations during assembly and alignment of large-sized lens, mirror, and catadioptric objectives. Aim of study. Development of a compensation method based on a complete calculation model of an aberrated objective in the ZEMAX environment, which has third-order aberrations equal to the aberrations measured in the lens interferometrically across the field of view. Method. Computer simulation of the aberrational function, obtained from interferometric measurements across the entire field of view of the objective in ZEMAX; software optimization of transverse and axial displacements of optical components to minimize the aberrational function; and compensation of aberrations in the assembled objective by shifting components to the calculated values. Main results. The method enables to predict the final image quality of the objective after the fine adjustment and the feasibility of achieving established quality criteria at the preliminary assembly stage. It also allows to determinate the necessary element displacements to compensate symmetric and asymmetric third‑order aberrations across the entire field of view. Practical significance. Predicting of the final adjustment result makes it possible to evaluate the possibility of achieving the established quality criteria of the objective with the actual components parameters. There is also an acceleration of the lens fine‑tuning process.
